Hello I’m Reva Castillenti
I learned to bake bread after moving to Brooklyn, NY in 2009, where I had the opportunity to be trained as a baker’s apprentice. From there I grew a passion for the art and science of bread making, and I have continued the practice from many avenues.
I started teaching workshops for home bakers in 2017 and have taught over 1500 (and counting!) students how to successfully bake on their own bread.
In 2018 I started a micro-bakery project, Bread and Roses Brooklyn, which placed in the top 10 of US Bread Awards in both 2018 and 2019. During the COVID Pandemic I delivered fresh baked loaves to people’s homes.
My specialties include New York Style Bagels, Sourdough Breads, and working with freshly milled flours.
I dream of small good bakeries in every town and look forward to helping people achieve that goal.
